My brother's girlfriend is 19 and she gets her health insurance through her mother's job. She and my brother are thinking about getting married. Will she lose her health insurance? My brother is self-employed, so he doesn't have health insurance.If you get insurance through your parents will it be canceled when you get married?
99.999999% of the time, yes. A person would not be eligible to stay on their parents health insurance after getting married, because they are no longer a ';dependent.';
(If they try to commit insurance fraud by hiding the marriage, there can be serious consequences. Her mother could lose her job, her mother's employer could come back after them for any money paid out for claims, etc. So, I wouldn't recommend going that route...if she's old enough and responsible enough to get married, then she should be responsible enough to arrange for other coverage.)If you get insurance through your parents will it be canceled when you get married?
Yes. She will no longer be her mom'd dependent and will no longer be qualified.
If she uses the insurance after getting married and the insurance company finds out. They will go after her for payment in full (and not at a reduced rate).
It's called insurance fraud.
Hello there,
Yes, she will get cancelled when she get's married.
She's no longer at that point a dependent of her parents and therefore would not be eligible to receive the benefits.
Hope that's helpful, good luck!

Yes. Once your dependent gets married, they no longer qualify for your health insurance plan.
Yes she will come off, most insurances only cover unmarried dependents.
You got it quite right. So consult your insurance company for better results.
