What is it like being married to a high school band teacher?

What are the pro's and cons of being married to a high school band teacher? Just CuriousWhat is it like being married to a high school band teacher?
I was a high school band teacher, and still taught a year after I got married. It was rough. High school band teachers usually have a marching band, which means most Friday nights they're at a football game, and if the band's any good, most Saturdays during football season (called marching season for band geeks) they're at a competition or band festival. While most teachers get a decent summer break, good band directors don't, they start rehearsing their band in July. Even after marching season is over, there's concert band, concerts to prepare for, and even concert band competitions to attend. It's lots of nights and weekends, and quite frankly, my husband and I felt it simply wasn't worth it after a year. I liked my job, but not enough to give up my marriage for it. It would, quite honestly, be similar to being married to a doctor, or business executive who isn't at home very much. You would have to be very, very supportive.

Edit: Remember also, the pay, quite frankly, sucks. Most band directors also teach private lessons on their specialty instrument to supplement their income. Those lessons are taught after school and the evenings. I seriously would work every day but Sunday. My 8th grade son is now in band, and will do marching band next year--it's a huge time commitment on the students, but an even bigger one on the director. What is it like being married to a high school band teacher?
